Instructions for Abstract Submission

List of abstracts received

For abstracts we have very simple rules. We intend to compile a book of abstracts which will be handed out in printed form at the time of registration. The idea is that each abstract should occupy approximately half an A4 page, so that notes can be taken on the same page.

Please supply an the abstract of your proposed paper to the Symposium Editor by 1 October 2000. The abstract should include the title of the paper, the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s), and the principal author's name, address, telephone number and e-mail address followed by the abstract itself of approximately 200 words.

The abstracts should be formatted as described below, and illustrated here (a bit longer is OK too):

You may supply your abstract as a plain text file, or if you prefer you can download (right-click and select `Save Link As' in Netscape, or left-click and select `Save this file to disk' in Explorer) and update the sample Word97 (for PC) file or, by popular request, the LaTeX template file provided. Email your abstract to Robert Harris in the ESA Publications Division before the 1 October 2000 deadline.

The SOC wishes to remind you that an important criterion for an oral presentations is to to address one or more of the specific aims given for this meeting. The Scientific Programme will be finalised based on the abstracts received by the above deadline!

Finally we intend to perform a little sociological experiment! If you would have a choice (we're not saying you do!) of submitting your paper for the conference proceedings in LaTeX or Word, would you have a preference? If you do, please tell us when submitting your abstract!
